20. Chepstow House (8/10)
Kicking us off at number 20 is Grade II Listed Victorian conversion is right in the centre of everything; The Bridgewater Hall, Albert Square, Deansgate… the list goes on – so it’s hard to imagine that only a few years ago Chepstow House stood alone in a dark and derelict location.
This miraculous piece of architecture most definitely was THE place to live in the early 1990’s and not because there was a limited choice but due to its massive apartments, high ceilings and attention to detail.
Chepstow House is beautiful, handsome and testament to the quality of Victorian workmanship that a building can look this good a century on. The building itself was designed by the architectural practice of Speakman and Charlesworth, who were responsible for Lloyd House in Albert Square! Chepstow House is certainly a treasured piece to Manchester and so this caps off Manchester’s Top 20 Apartment Blocks!
